Geodesign in Decision Making: meta planning and collaborative design for sustainable and inclusive development.

Organized Workshop @ ICCSA 2022 Conference

This workshop aims at collecting research experiences and field-applications of GEODESIGN framework in Decision Making processes.

Under the UN SDGs umbrella, we are engaged in putting in practice a global deal promoting sustainability in territorial, social and economic development processes. Decision making represents a fragile knot of the chain linking policy making to project implementation. Relevant research questions still lies in adaptive competences development, effective data and information management system, impacts assessment and scenario building. But an emerging issues is represented by the demand for effective collaborative approach as a mean to enhance people responsibility in common and shared planning actions and projects implementation.

GEODESIGN demonstrated its robustness as a methodology for collaborative planning and negotiation in several application domains and scales. Nevertheless, the richest will be the documentation of case studies the more transferable will be the methodology combined with supporting tools and the ambition to spread knowledge, competences and specific experts' profile for operative GEODESIGN actions.

It is relevant to understand the integration opportunities of GEODESIGN method with other traditional design methodologies and planning approaches (PCM, LFA, PSMs, Investigating User Behaviour, Brainstorming, Synectics, Morphological Charts, Interaction Matrix, Functional Innovation, Information Sorting, Mental Mapping etc.) in order to produce innovations and to deliver suitable tools to face rising wicked problems.

Main fields of application come from Urban and Regional planning, Urban renovation processes, Social innovation and inclusion, Participation and Collaborative design, environmental design and landscape architecture, design thinking and bounded rationality.

The workshop will welcome and select contributions documenting case study applications, studios, teaching activities, up-to-date methodological reviews, especially those that address interdisciplinarity.

All accepted papers will be published in the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) Series. Accepted papers will be scheduled for oral presentation. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register, to attend the conference and to present the paper.

The conference language will be English.
