Special Session on Geophysical and Atmospheric Data/Sensor Fusion

Description: Earth's crust and the surrounding atmospheric layers present a very complicated, time and space varying, inhomogeneous, temporally and spatially dispersive environment. Since the beginning of time, humans have tried to infer information about this ever changing and challenging structure that has direct impact on their life. With the development of earth and space based sophisticated measurement devices such as sounders and satellites, scientists and engineers have started to observe the complicated nature of the surrounding system. Yet, due to the distinct divisions between the disciplines, techniques and devices that observe and measure the same phenomena may not share the information or the outcome with other researchers. The goal of this special session is to bring geophysicists, geodesists, electrical and electronics engineers, ionospheric and atmospheric physicists, meteorologists, environmental engineers, seismologists, and space weather observers under one special roof so that a platform might be generated to seek out special ways to ‘fuse’ sensors and data for a united and complete earth model.

Special Session Proposals: Proposers are invited to submit via the conference web page the theme of the special session as well as a list of possible committed papers. Papers for special sessions must also be submitted for review by 1 March 2013.
