Abstract:The 'Modern Movement' stands as one of the most fascinating chapters in Italian cultural and architectural history. The surges of avant-garde thinking spurred the birth of new industries through the development of technical apparatus and technological systems, leading to the delineation of distinct architectural styles recognized across all architecture bearing the label 'Made in Italy'. The evolution of modern construction techniques and the increasingly prevalent use of reinforced concrete allowed for the definition of the distinctive - qualitative and typological - traits of these new architectures. Simultaneously, advancements in industry, particularly in construction materials, provided significant impetus to this process of innovation within the sector. This volume aims to examine architectures characterized by a distinctly Italian style - one not defined by specific rules or well-defined traits, but rather by creations united by an intent to express the values of a national identity.
